Welcome to the Counseling Department!
The goal of the school counselor is to help students focus on academic, personal/social, and career development so that they can achieve success in school and are prepared to be productive citizens. The school counselor is responsible for individual counseling, small group counseling, classroom guidance, parent and teacher consultation and gifted testing.
Students can be referred by self, teacher, or parent for individual counseling.
Small Group Counseling:
Groups of two or more students meet with Mrs. Sheets to discuss various topics ranging from friendship skills to academic skills.
Students will learn about various topics including responsibility, respect for self and others, good citizenship, compassion, self control, friendship, honesty, cooperation and courage.
Meet the Counselor!
My name is Tarilyn Sheets. This is my 13th year at South Columbia. I graduated from Valdosta State University in December 2004 with my Master's Degree in School Counseling. I am married to my husband, Jonathan and we have four children. Our two oldest attend Lakeside Middle! I look forward to assisting our parents, faculty, staff and students as needed.
